When I grow up
by admin on Oct.16, 2008, under Personal

Today started with a real pop-start, with the gorgeous Pussycat Dolls performing live at Martin Place during the broadcast of Seven Sunrise. They did two sets of performances, one at 7.50 and again at 8.50am where they performed some titles from their new album.
I have only been to a couple of concerts and live gigs in my time, the most memorable concert-wise would have to be Garbage’s last performance before what I can only hope is a temporary retirement. Gig wise, the latest and greatest of theses would have to be Rove McManus performing standup.
From what I saw and heard of the Pussycat dolls today, I think it’s safe to say that audiences of the April 2009 concert will thoroughly enjoy the show. I will definitely be looking out for the ticket sales.
Other 2009 tickets would also have to include Bathurst. I was lucky enough to be in a bar for the majority of the race watching the race on the plasma and it was fantastic fun – I could only imagine how awesome it must be to actually be there surrounded by fans, the V8’s and of course the flag girls. So with this in mind, I will definitely be returning to Sydney this time next year to attend Bathurst.
It gets more and more difficult leaving Sydney each time; this being my seventh trip in the last three years. I have had a fantastic time catching up with the greater family, some of which are residents of Sydney while others like me have flown from all corners of Australia for my cousin’s wedding. The wedding on Friday was terrific; I was given the great honor of coordinating the music for the ceremony. Although there were a couple of hiccups regarding the preparations of the ceremony and reception, it all played out very smoothly.
In addition to doing the touristy things that I have done many times before, such as Circular Quay, Darling Harbour, the ferries, I also revisited the Toronga Zoo which since the last time I visited it (about 4 years ago) has undergone a significant facelift. In addition I also visited the International Australia Motor Show in Darling Harbour as well as tour of the Opera House which was extremely interesting – and OMG wow – the theatre rooms are incredible! Truly world class.
It has to be said, although the sightseeing activities are great fun, I have well and truly DONE Sydney in this regard and to that end am quite over it. What I love though is just doing the everyday things, the little things, catching busses to see family and friends, having a coffee or a meal at one of my favorite cafes in the city and just LIVING the Sydney life as a local rather than a tourist. In this regard, the atmosphere of the Sydney lifestyle is fantastic.
Well anyway, I will close for now and enjoy my last day roaming the streets of Sydney savoring the experience until I return in two weeks time!

5.5 hours till I depart on my 3000km flight to Sydney with Qantas airways… The last couple of weeks leading up to this have been crazy busy to say the least. In as much time though her observation alone I have convinced my receptionist that all I do is sleep and work… Sadly but true that has been effectively all I have been doing too.
Fortunately I have not been neglecting my health over this period, without the continuous exercise; the jogging, walking and riding which seem to make up my week I have no doubt I would of come down with some flu or sickness just due to pushing myself as long and as hard as I have been. I am glad to say, I have gotten through it all and am still alive!
Although I still have a good two weeks work ahead of me when I return from Sydney before the Visual Impact and Image Expo (in Sydney), I have completed ahead of time all the tasks that I had laid out for myself before embarking on tonights flight, the lasts of these tasks being the 9 meter long poster which is printing as I type. So tonight, I am looking forward to sitting back and relaxing.
Further more, I am looking forward to October being over and proving my dear receptionist wrong - proving that I infact do have a life outside of work…
Anyway, time to check out the progress of the banner and get on out of here! Sydney here I come!
